Dr. Paterson has extensive senior management and entrepreneurial experience in medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Prior to founding Alba, Dr. Paterson served as Chief Operating Officer of Integrity Pharmaceutical Corporation, a Urology Women’s Health pharmaceutical company in Indianapolis, IN. Prior to joining Integrity, Dr. Paterson was Executive Director, Oncology Acute Care and Inflammation Product Groups at Eli Lilly & Company. As the Global Strategy leader for these product groups, he helped establish the Inflammation/Immunomodulation therapeutic area and also served as Director of New Product Planning for the Lilly Neurosciences portfolio. Prior to joining Lilly, Dr. Paterson was Senior Director, Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research, responsible for Clinical Research and Medical, Safety and Regulatory Affairs for the Latin America region. In this capacity, he registered Neurontin® for neuropathic pain in 5 countries, was a member of the Pregabalin Development Team, and authored / executed Phase II thru Phase IV multinational clinical protocols for other products such as Lipitor®, Accupril®, Rezulin® and Avasimibe.
Dr. Paterson received his BS Engineering from Tufts University and his M.D. from the University of Vermont. He completed his Anesthesiology residency and fellowships in Critical Care Medicine and Cardio-Thoracic Anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he also served as Instructor in Anesthesia, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Paterson is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology and previously served as founder, Chairman and CEO of Arbor Research Corporation.
